Attended the sewing retreat in France in June 2023.
From arriving at the airport to going home we were so well looked after.
The itinerary was well planned despite some disruption due to Ryanair flight changes. We enjoyed a mix of sewing time in the beautiful studio at Donna and Richard’s home, free time and wonderful meals. Lunches in the garden were fabulous, afternoon tea at a neighbouring b&b was delightful and our evening meal on our first day was in a local restaurant and was delicious.
The time we spent in the studio was really great, we were all very productive, I made the Vienne Dress and it was great to have Donna around to ask for advice. The studio was very well equipped and had plenty of space for the group to work, Donna had thought of everything so we didn’t need to take too many accessories.
Donna is a brilliant host and we really appreciated being transported to and from the airport as well as daily pick ups and drop off from our B&B.
We met some lovely like-minded sewists who were all willing to help each other out.
If you are thinking of booking, I don’t think you’ll regret it, so go for it?
We stayed at the 13Bees b&b which we can also recommend
Overall a brilliant experience and we plan to return.

What a fantastic experience I had at the French sewing retreat this year.everthing I hoped for and more.I enjoyed meeting new friends and both Donna and her husband Richard were absolutely wonderful at making us feel welcome.everthing was planned so well.my sister and myself enjoyed it so much we have already booked for next year.

What a five star experience; from being picked up at the airport to the return.
It was a real pleasure to meet my pattern designer and come home with a fabulous finished article. The sewing studio was equipped with everything you could require and was so spacious and airy.
Hospitality was first class and delivered by an always smiling host.
I enjoyed the retreat so much and the ladies I met that I have signed up for next year xxx

If you are wondering whether to book your place on the French Retreat, then this is your sign to do it.
We were treated like princesses by Donna and Richard. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They had gone to the trouble of making a menu suitable for a coeliac who was intolerant to dairy – i.e. me.
It’s a great opportunity for some self-care and time away from the hustle and bustle of life. All while enjoying the company of people who love sewing in a beautiful part of rural France.
Donna is a kind, nurturing tutor. She is great at tailoring (sorry about the pun) her advice to the ability level of the person.
I (and many of the people on my retreat) had rebooked for a 2024 retreat. Grab your place where you can.

This sewing retreat is exactly what it says on the tin, you get an amazing space to enjoy some calm relaxing sewing, as well as having a laugh with some amazing like minded people.
The area is beautiful and the afternoon tea is also a wonderful break up of the sewing to give you an extra treat.
The hosts Donna and Richard are amazing throughout, providing delicious food, excellent help and tutorials, driving around for all your needs and going above and beyond with whatever you need.
Our flight home was cancelled and Donna was straight on the phone trying to help us out!
Confolens is very picturesque and there are lovely places to visit or even just to have a picnic by the river. I would definitely recommend and hope to attend next year if possible

What a great week! Donna & Richard were so welcoming and hospitable and the space to work in was cosy and rustic 🙂
As an almost complete beginner (I did know the basics of using a sewing machine) I was able to progress under Donna’s guidance and finished the Florence blouse, learning new techniques and gaining confidence. Can’t wait to start on my next project!! 🙂 Donna is so friendly and takes the time to add little tutorials for the group but also individual instruction.
The location is great, we stayed in the nearby town of Confolens which is picturesque and nice to explore in the time off from sewing.
Donna and Richard were great hosts, providing lifts, great food and refreshments.

I had a brilliant time at the sewing retreat. Donna and Richard were perfect hosts and made us all feel at home. I didn’t get as much sewing done as I’d have hoped, but that was because of the intense heat that we were assured was quite unusual. I’d highly recommend the retreat, a relaxed atmosphere with expertise on hand and beautiful scenery to enjoy.

I had a great time on this sewing retreat, Donna and her husband Richard were very welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel at home. I made the Tulip dress, and was really pleased with how it turned out, with help and advice from Donna! The sewing studio was spacious and well equipped, and the local town is a lovely place to explore during the time off. Overall, it was a nice relaxing week spent with some lovely people 🙂

Could you imagine being treated like a VIP guest for 5 days in the beautiful french town of Confolens? Experiencing expert tuition from an outstanding designer and seamstress? Being picked up from the airport and our accommodation every day by lovely Richard? Treated to delicious food whilst in the company of other sewists? Well that’s what I did last week.
