This is a lovely, well-drafted pattern, with some great anticipation built into it. Size Me Sewing has clearly imagined a beginner maker standing next to their machine saying “oh, no! I’ve never inserted an invisible zip!” and the instructions have been written with reassurance in mind. I added one or two tweaks just in terms of finishing the seams, but otherwise this was a straightforward project, made as directed. The Florence skirt is a lovely, flexible garment which lends itself to being worn with tights and boots or flip-flops! A bonus would be that you can have this pattern drafted to your specific size – I didn’t use this service but what a great, inclusive idea. More power to Size Me Sewing!

Ahh Yes!! I always have a beginner in mind when I’m writing the instructions…I also think a nice gentle reminder to the experienced sewist is a good thing too!
I’m so happy you enjoyed it and I loved seeing it on Instagram, thanks Donna xx

I loved making this skirt! It’s very beginner friendly as it comes with an easy-to-follow video tutorial.
I ended up going with a heavier weight linen and it worked out perfectly. I made a few adjustments to the darts and sides as I found the waist to be a bit too large (nothing out of the ordinary for my proportions) so if I was to make again, I’d definitely size down.
Thank you for the lovely pattern!
